The action extremism and the productive perfection of Fontana at auction the next 10 of February at Sotheby’s in London.
It is a 23 tagli canvas of 80.5 x 100 cm. The masterpiece pertaining to Concetto Spaziale, Attese series was executed in 1965 and comes from the Swedish Private Collection of Anna-Stina Malmborg Hoglund e Gunnar Hoglund.
The piece has been estimated 6 million pounds and was acquired from Galerie Pierre in Stockholm, though was never exhibited anymore. The only documentation testifying the works’ quality and exceptionality comes from the German photographer Harry Shunk, who was invited in the Fontana’s studio and took a photographic service that made history. Shunk realized more than 20 shots following Fontana during the making of his Concetto Spaziale, that depicts 23 perfect tagli in one of the two white canvas produced by the artist.
Fontana is always undisputed protagonist of international auctions and one of the most requested artist on the market. The last Concetto Spaziale, Attese (1966) was auctioned at Christie’s for 2,7 million euros the past November.
